[Video] Scuba Diving with Bull Sharks in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico!

January 5, 2015 0 Comments

I live in Cozumel, Mexico and have been diving, both professionally and recreationally for almost 30 years – my first bull shark dive experience is absolutely a stand out among 2000+ dives!

Four very experienced divers and I headed to Playa Del Carmen to scuba dive with bull sharks; I had heard about this dive so many times and everyone always seemed to enjoy it. We really had a tough time deciding which dive operator we would choose but a couple had dove with Jason and Fantasea Dive a year earlier and at least knew what to expect; prior experience with an operation and excellent Trip Advisor reviews really helps. The shop is easy to find and a VERY short walk from the ferry pier, so we called to confirm availability. The booking process was easy and the directions were clear.

Don’t let the “informality” of the operation fool you! From the moment we arrived the service was top-notch and attentive. We were greeted by Jason and others in his staff and we received a thorough brief full of Jason’s obvious personality – which, I think, is really part of the charm of diving with Fantasea!

Our gear was taken to the boats for us and it was only a 2 or 3 minute ride out to the dive site. What followed was an absolute treat and one of the most memorable dives I’ve ever had. The bull sharks were amazing to see and swim among.

I cannot say enough about all of the feelings that come with diving with these otherwise dangerous predators realizing that there are no safety barriers other than the professionalism of Jason and his assistant.

This experience is definitely in my life’s highlight reel and I’m already planning my trip back to do it again!
